I know a lot of you are curious as to my plans for maternity leave, so here goes...
I plan on working for as long as possible. Our baby boy has an estimated due date of April 23, so my plan is to work until Friday, April 20, pending that I don't have to go out earlier.
I have a long-term substitute lined up. She has been in the classroom a few times now and will be back at least on more time before I leave so she can learn our rituals and routines. Her name is Jessica Guerrero. She has taught before and is currently subbing while she and her husband are stationed here through the Navy. She has two boys who attend Loretto. She knows about folders and I think that will be the best way to communicate with her while I'm out on leave.
Homework will continue as normal for the most part and Mrs. Guerrero has been instructed on how to reward children for books they read, so please continue to have your child write their books in their reading log. We are working on achieving a school-wide goal so that Mr. Begley will have to kiss a pig during reading celebration week in May.
I will not officially be back before the end of the school year, but hope to see the kids one last time before school lets out for the summer. I will let you know when that might be as the year comes to a close.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns during these last few weeks.
