Library check-out

We will have the opportunity to check out library books every Monday immediately after lunch. 1st graders are allowed one book at a time. In order for your child to get a new book on Mondays, they must return their previous book.

In addition to Mondays, we will have library class every other FRIDAY beginning this week (Aug 31). During this time, children will meet with our librarian, Mrs. Framers, for a lesson. She will give them the opportunity to check out books as well. If your child wants a new book, they must return their old one. It's not mandatory they get a new book, this is just another opportunity to READ!

PTA Memberships

I found out today that our class has 22 memberships, which puts us at 100%!!  That's fantastic.  Thank you so much to those of you that joined PTA so promptly.  It's a great organization that does so much for our school.  Since we have 100% membership for our class, we will receive a gift card to use on classroom supplies.  Thanks again!

Website

We have been using a lot of fun websites on our Smart Board during Skills Block.  One website the kids particularly liked was Fun Fonix.  I've included the link so that you can have your child play at home.  We were focusing on beginning sounds, but there are other games, including identifying missing medial vowels.

THANK YOU!

All kinds of goodies have been coming in and I'm sorry to say that I haven't been able to pay much attention to who has brought them in.  I just want to say a huge thank you if you were able to take an apple from our giving tree and have sent in the item(s).  I can't tell you how much parents play a role in making our school year run smoothly.  Thank you for your generosity!

Summer Reading Logs

The summer reading celebration will be Wednesday, August 29.  Children who read at least 20 books and submitted a reading log to their teacher will qualify for the party.  Send in your child's summer reading log by this Friday (Aug 24) in order for your child to be counted in for the party!

Meet and Greet

I'm extremely excited to meet everyone during our annual Meet and Greet.  I hope to see you on Friday, August 17 at 9:00 am.  I will have lots of important things to send you home with.  I will be going over school and classroom policies and procedures.  I will also mention the expectations for first graders.  See you then!
